Trump Subpoenaed for ‘Central Role’ in Effort to Overturn Election

Truthout:

Issuing a subpoena to former President Donald Trump on Friday, the House committee that is investigating the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol demanded Trump provide testimony and documents in response to the panel’s findings that he “personally orchestrated and oversaw a multi-part effort to overturn the 2020 presidential election.”

The committee called on the former Republican leader to provide records of any phone calls, text messages, and other messages he sent and received on the day of the attack; records of his communications between November 3, 2020 and January 6, 2021 in which the election and the certification of the results were discussed; any communications regarding extremist groups including the Proud Boys and the Oath Keepers, who have been linked to the attack, and more than a dozen other types of related documentation.

The panel ordered Trump to turn over the documents by November 4 and to testify on November 14.

Kinzinger says Secret Service Jan. 6 inconsistencies ‘pure incompetence’ or ‘potenti ally very criminal’

This is a very serious matter that needs to be uncovered:

Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.), a member of the House Jan. 6 select committee, told CNN on Monday that “inconsistencies” exist in Secret Service officials’ accounts surrounding the Capitol attack.

During an appearance on CNN’s “The Situation Room” with host Wolf Blitzer, Kinzinger said the committee is pursuing those inconsistencies as questions swirl over an alleged altercation on Jan. 6 between former President Trump and Secret Service agents in the presidential vehicle.

“There is something going on at the Secret Service, either pure incompetence all the way on the scale to potentially very criminal activity or just having a preference for one side or the other,” Kinzinger told CNN.

Spotify’s Joe Rogan has repeatedly spread the baseless conspiracy theory that January 6 was a false flag orchestrated by the FBI

Rogan makes money for Spotify by spreading lies, hate, and disinformation:

Spotify’s Joe Rogan has repeatedly and baselessly claimed that the January 6 insurrection was fueled in part by FBI agents acting as so-called “agent provocateurs” who were “in the audience calling for people to go into the Capitol.” Rogan promoted this conspiracy theory at least five times in the past year on his Spotify-exclusive podcast, which was the most popular podcast on the platform in 2020 and 2021.

There is no evidence to support the conspiracy theory that the attack on the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021, was incited by FBI agents. These baseless claims originated with the right-wing group Stop Hate, which has ties to the violent far-right group the Proud Boys and the “Stop the Steal” campaign that helped incite the insurrection.

Sen. Cory Booker said ‘there should be no super PACs for anyone,’ but now he’s raising money for one

Source: BusinessInsider:

Democratic Sen. Cory Booker used to hate on super PACs, saying "there should be no super PACs for anyone."

Now, less than a month away from the 2022 midterm election, he’s raising money for a super PAC — one led by former Democratic Rep. Gabrielle Giffords.

In a fundraising email this week, Booker asked his supporters to contribute to the Giffords PAC, founded by Giffords and her husband Mark Kelly — now a US senator representing Arizona — to elect supporters of gun control to public office.

"The cost of gun violence is immeasurable," he wrote in the email. "Every gunshot wound and every mass shooting leaves an indelible mark on our nation’s soul."

Number of people in NYC shelters hits highest number in decades

More people are living in New York City shelters than at any point in decades, according to figures released by the city’s Homeless Services Department Tuesday, underscoring an escalating crisis related in part to the surge in the number of asylum seekers arriving in New York City in recent months.

As of Sunday, at least 62,070 people were being housed in city shelters, surpassing heights set in January of 2019 when 61,415 were staying in city shelters on a single night, according to DHS records.

While the city has only released a daily count monthly totals going back to 2013, records collected by the Coalition for the Homeless show the current level of homelessness has been unparalleled since the early 1980’s, when the earliest records were collected.
